Lightning and Loki

Sharc
|
We open in darkness. Somewhere.
SHARC: Hey, you awake?
Someone grunts in response.
SHARC: Do you hear it? I'm ready now.
VOICE: What time is it?
SHARC: Who knows, who cares. Do your job and tape this.
VOICE: Awright, awright.
SHARC: Don't put a light on. Did you hear it.
VOICE: No.
SHARC: Well shut up then.
There is a little light, but what light there is comes from an open window. Sitting in front of the window is the silhouette of Sharc. Outside, rain suddenly begins to pour. The rain plinks of something metal. Sharc waits, and the rain lightens up. Then there is a dull flash of lightning. After a few seconds of silence, a rumble of thunder is heard in the distance.
SHARC: I was just sitting here, thinking about what to say about Loki the Trickster, my first opponent in TWW. And then most fittingly, the storm began. (Lightning flashes, briefly illuminating the room and Sharc like a flickering flourescent bulb.) This Friday, Loki, you will suffer a fate like this. (Thunder crackles outside. Otherwise, all is silent.)
SHARC: Right now, every human waste out there is sleeping, completely unaware that this storm is coming. Unaware that the God they verbally rape every day might finally stop caring about them, and allowing a bolt of lightning to send their lives up in flames. A single bolt of lightning will set their homes ablaze, and if they're lucky, they'll burn to death in their sleep. If not, they'll wake up to find everything they ever worked for go up in flames. (Two quick lightning flashes. Sharc waits for a rumble of thunder before continuing.) And they'll lose everything to an act of God. They'll get no money, because God wanted to kill them. God wanted to test them. He wanted to see them come grovelling back to him, away from the material world. I know he does this. I've experienced it.
(A loud rumble of thunder is heard.)
SHARC: What's the matter? Truth hurt? Don't worry, I have faith you won't hit my house. I may not worship you, but I sure as hell respect your methods. If you can't have their love, torture 'em. If you don't get their respect, you punish them. (Lightning flashes brightly.) You see Loki, there is a storm coming. Just like there is a real storm out there coming for me. But Friday, I'm going to be your storm. You know I'm coming. You know I'm destructive. You know I can send all your dreams up in flames, you know I don't care about you, but there ain't a damn thing you can do to stop me. Just like God will kill or test some nobody, I will test you Loki. I won't kill you, but you can bet I'll try to break you. You can't fight nature, you can't fight God, you can't fight fate, and you can't fight Sharc.
Outside, rain begins to pour again. A bright flash of lightning, and another, is followed by a loud crash of thunder.
SHARC: (Screaming) Houston, Loki, Houston. Because if what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, I am unstoppable. All you are is what I used to be. A loser. And (lightning flashes). And I'm not going to (thunder is deafening). And I'm going to show you and everyone else in TWW that I am not a man to be messed with.
Gray static fills the screen.
